Connecting Claude on the web

Claude in the browser (claude.ai) connects to Naetive as a custom connector. One URL, no install. Custom connectors need a paid Claude plan.

Step 1: Add the connector

In claude.ai: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector. On the Connect page, open the Claude on the web row (under Add another agent if it is not connected yet) and press Make a key for Claude on the web, then paste the URL it shows. Claude on the web gets its own key, inside the URL, shown once, so copy it straight away and share it with no one; leave the OAuth fields blank. Lost it? Make another; the old one stops working.

Step 2: Check it worked

Start a new chat and ask "What's my current focus?" If it answers with your project, you are connected, and Claude on the web shows under Your agents on Connect.

Files on your computer

Claude on the web cannot see your computer by itself. It reaches files only through the tunnel, and only for projects you shared. Your files stay on your computer; what it asks for travels to it, encrypted, when you ask it something.

  • A new project: when you create it, tick Let ChatGPT and Claude on the web reach this folder. The box is off by default.
  • An existing project: one line in a terminal on that computer, from any folder: naetive share --project my-project. It finds the folder itself.

The tunnel then starts by itself in the background (on Windows, start it yourself: & "$env:USERPROFILE\.naetive\start-tunnel.cmd"). Claude can then read and change the files in the projects you shared, and nothing else. Running commands stays off until you run naetive commands on on that computer, then confirm in your browser (macOS and Linux; not on Windows yet). See Sharing your projects and starting the tunnel.
